TRADITIONAL EVENING IN BEAUTIFUL ALONISTAINA TO
WELCOME THE WINTER
The Associatiom of Alonistaina,, “Aghia Paraskevi”, “the Tripoli Center of Greek Dance” and the mayor of Falanthos, Mr. Kostas Psiharis, are organizing for the second consecutive year a “traditional evening” in historic Alonistaina on 29th November, 2008.
The event will be held in the central square near the church of Aghia Paraskevi in the beautiful, historic Alonistaina. A sacred and symbolic site, it is connected historically to Theodoros Kolokotronis who grew up there and who, using part of the spoils from the battle at Dervenakia, embellished the church of Aghia Paraskevi which he greatly revered. These historic events form part of the region’s oral tradition and of the lively collective memory of the residents who are zealously preparing – after last year’s success – to welcome their emigrants as well as friends and admirers of the area’s beautiful natural and architectural environment.
The organizers and residents invite you to beautiful Alonistaina in the thick pine forest of Mainalon at 1200m, to experience the warm hospitality and lively communication of its people in the festivities, music and dancing of this magical second celebration to welcome in the winter.
Traditional hot fasolada (bean soup), tsipouro and dishes and sweets of the area will be available.
The event is under the Auspices of “Greek Dance Archives” and IOV Hellas.
