  “SOUNDS OF EURASIA” IV ÉNTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC  
     
 

Ôhe IV ÉNTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC “SOUNDS OF EURASIA” took place in ULAN-UDE, the capital of Buryatia of the Russian Federation, from 12th to 20th September 2009.

 

 

The Festival was organized with great success by the East Siberian State Academy of Culture and Arts (ESSACA), by Prof. Mr. Viktor Kitov, Dr. of Culturology, President of the IV International Festival of Traditional Music and was under the auspices of IOV Russia, of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Buryatia (East Siberia), of the Local Administration of Ulan-Ude, of the Ulan-Ude Musical College “P.I. Tchaikovsky” and of the National Library of the Republic of Buryatia.

 
     
 
 

B R I E F  R E P O R T

Ôhe IV ÉNTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF TRADITIONAL MUSIC “SOUNDS OF EURASIA” took place in ULAN-UDE, the capital of Buryatia of the Russian Federation, from 12th to 20th September 2009.

 

The Festival was organized with great success by the East Siberian State Academy of Culture and Arts (ESSACA), by Prof. Mr. Viktor Kitov, Dr. of Culturology, President of the IV International Festival of Traditional Music and was under the auspices of IOV Russia, of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Buryatia (East Siberia), of the Local Administration of Ulan-Ude, of the Ulan-Ude Musical College “P.I. Tchaikovsky” and of the National Library of the Republic of Buryatia.

 

The IV International Festival of Traditional Music “Sounds of EurAsia”, which was strictly academically and educationally oriented, consisted of three parts:

a) Master Classes for traditional instruments of EurAsia (bayan, accordion, pluck lutes, bow lutes, cymbals, zithers, aerophones) for Professors and students of high level

b) The Scientific Conference with subject: “Folk music of Eurasia: from traditions to the present”

c) Concerts/ performances with traditional instruments from Buryatia, Russia, Mongolia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Letonia, Belarus (in chamber music, ensembles and orchestras)

The participants of the IV International Festival of Traditional Music came from the Russina Federation, the Republic of Buryatia, the Republic of Karelia, the Transbaikal Region, China, Taiwan, Greece, Latvia, Belarus, Japan, Mongolia and USA.

 

It is noteworthy that among the invited scientists who honored with their reports the Conference were: Mr. Osamu YAMAGUTI, Pr. of Ethnomusicoloy, Japan, Mrs. Rimma PODOINITSINA, Associate Professor of string National Instruments, Musical Academy of Belarus, Mr. Vladimir KURGUZOV, Pr. of Culturology, ESSACA, Mrs. Teiksma YANSONE, Associate Professor of string instruments, Latvian Academy of Music, Mrs. Mara VANAGA, Lecturer of Kokle Specialty, Latvian Academy of Music, Mr. Batchuluun TSEND, Art Director & Conductor of Morin Khuur Ensemble, Mongolia.

 

Greece was represented by Pr. Renata Dalianoudi, Dr. of Ethnomusicology, Professor-Adviser, Greek Open University, member of IOVHellas and the GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES.

The subject of her report was: “Greek folk music: from yesterday to the present- A musicological, Ethnological and Aesthetical approach”.

It is to be noticed, that the Greek report was distinguished for its systematic and methodical content, during the -phantasmagoric and full of interesting traditional tunes  and beautiful traditional costumes from all the participants- concert gala.



The IV International Festival of Traditional Music “Sounds of EurAsia” completed its sessions with an excursion to the lake Baikal, where all the participants enjoyed the beautiful nature and sang and danced in the rhythm of the traditional music of each invited country.


We would like to express our sincerest thanks and to congratulate Pr.
Mrs. Renata Dalianoudi cordially for this honorable distinction and the successful representation of the Greek folk music and the Greek Ethnomusicology in this important scientific and cultural meeting of the ESSACA.


We would also like to congratulate the President of the IV International Festival of Traditional Music Pr. Dr. Viktor Kitov , for the great success of this important scientific event.
