THE FIRST FESTIVAL “ARODAMOS 2009” SOUDA- CRETE ISLAND

Under the Auspices of GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES

The first festival “ARODAMOS 2009” SOUDA- CRETE was successfully held in the grounds of the monastery of Ag Ioannis at ancient Aptera in Crete.  The big celebration, which was dedicated to Crete and Asia Minor, was organized by the municipality of Soudas and X.O.X. ARODAMOS and took place under the Auspices  of GREEK DANCE ARCHIVES and the cooperation of “Ag Polikarpos”, the brotherhood of Asia Minor in Hania.

Official guests were the association of Asia Minor from Halkidiki, “TA SIMANTRA”, and the Association of Pontos, “AKRITSES TOU PONTOU”.

The association from Perama, “Xatheria”,  the traditional choir and orchestra of the ioannis Manioudakis conservatory and the dance club “ARODAMOS” also participated.

Narrator of the evening was Katerina Vakka who, clearly inspired by the evocative archeological site, took us on a journey to unforgettable homelands without melancholy but with intense romanticism in her recital of excerpts from the poems of Seferis and others.

The evening closed with wishes of “au revoir” till the “FESTIVAL ARODAMOS 2010” and the promise that it will be dedicated to Pontos with international participation.
